Impossibly Improved Apple Chip Recipe

How to Make the Best Apple Chips in the World

Here is a recipe that will make some of the best Apple Chips in the world. The true secret to the recipe is to use a Mandolin Slicer and (some vitally important protective gloves) to make your apples razor thin. If you don't have one of those then you will just have to do your best to cut them up very very thinly. And there are still a couple differences between my Impossible Recipe and your regular apple chip recipe.

It took me a month of failure to produce something that was better than store bought. It turns out that the main problem was simply the thickness of the apples. I bought the mandolin on a whim...sliced up the apples and voila! Better than store bought. The best I have ever had.

Ingredients

2 Granny Smith Apples
2 parts Cinnamon powder
2 parts White Sugar
1 part Brown Sugar

Directions

Preheat Oven to 200 Degrees Fahrenheit.

1. Slice the apples as (razor thin as possible. You can soak the slices in a bowl of ice, water and the 2 T lemon juice for 5 minutes to prevent discoloration but I find this step to be unnecessary. Peeling the apples is optional but I don't bother. They taste great peel and all. Its so thin that you really do not notice the peel.

2. Mix up remaining ingredients. You can put them into a shaker like this one to help yourself evenly disperse the Cinnasugar mixture but it's okay if you don't have one. Just improvise. You can do it.

3. Place apples on parchment paper and sprinkle a generous portion of the Cinnasugar mixture onto the apples.

4. Bake at 200 degrees for approximately 90 minutes - 2 hours. Apples will crisp-en after taking them out of the oven. Don't worry if they aren't crispy immediately. Wait about 4 minutes if they aren't crispy enough for you then bake them for another 15 minutes. Getting the slices razor thin is the key to success.
